2012 Golf Tournament Letter

Dear Friends,

I am very pleased to report on the 6th Annual September Classic Charity Golf Tournament. With all of your help we raised $25,000 this year and over the past six years, we have raised almost $150,000 for the Southlake Regional Cancer Centre in Newmarket.

The tournament was held on September 13, 2012. We would like to thank Silver Lakes Golf Club and our hosts, Doug McGrath, Al Fisher, Todd Sloan and their staff; they did a fabulous job. We were blessed with another beautiful sunny day and the course was at its finest!

Our motto is for everyone to have a great time and raise money for the Pete Miller Charitable Foundation. From the feedback we receive, everyone who attends say they have serious fun, not just a good day of golfing, but serious fun. We are very grateful to all of you who commit your time, money and resources to ensure the success of our charity year-after-year. My father is looking down on all of us and very proud of our accomplishments. He’s just wishing he was here to enjoy the day! Much of the credit has to go to our sponsors who generously donated their time and money to make this day an enjoyable one for all.

As you know, The Pete Miller Charitable Foundation operates the September Classic Charitable Golf Tournament, and the Annual Creole Mardi Gras Casino which kick-starts the annual Mardi Gras festival in February. These events will allow us to distribute funds to various charities, with our primary focus being the Southlake Cancer Center in Newmarket, ON. Enclosed (if applicable) is a charitable receipt for a portion of the tournament costs which represents a donation to the Foundation that you made for 2012.

I would like to thank all of our hole sponsors, those people who donated money and gifts and especially those of you who year after year sponsor our dinner, wine, lunch, golf cart gifts, and finally to all of those volunteers who always step up to help us.

Planning for next year’s event started almost immediately after the conclusion of this year’s event. We have reserved the date of Thursday September 12th, 2013 for next year’s tournament. We will be sending out both electronic registration forms as well as registration forms by mail as we continue to build our database of donors. Please talk to your friends and your family and encourage them to commit early, because next year we will fill a full field of 144 golfers and, unfortunately, we will cut it off at that.

We welcome any new suggestions and would appreciate your assistance to this great foundation. New volunteers are always welcome and would assist us tremendously organizing this tournament and the spring euchre and poker tournament. Please give this some consideration and email us with your offer to join a dynamic group of great people.
